坪山区，位于深圳市东北部，东靠惠州市大亚湾，南连大鹏半岛，西邻盐田港，北面是龙岗区中心城。总面积168平方千米。坪山原属龙岗区管辖，2016年9月12日，国务院批准组建坪山区。2017年1月7日，坪山区举行揭牌仪式。坪山区是客家人进入深圳的主要聚居地，属亚热带海洋性气候，自然地形主要为浅丘陵和盆地，深圳市五大河流之一的坪山河贯穿全境，区內的马峦山瀑布是深圳市最大的天然瀑布群，本土文化坪山麒麟舞、腰鼓舞分别被列入省、市级非物质文化遗产保护项目。
2018年，坪山区下辖6个街道，另设有1个工业区，常住人口总数44.63万人，实现地区生产总值（GDP）701.66亿元，人均生产总值16.05万元，按2018年平均汇率折算，人均生产总值约为24255美元。
交通配套
截至2015年，坪山区有深汕公路、横坪公路、坪西公路等一级公路辖区段，共有交通道路516条，通车里程430千米 。深汕高速公路穿境而过。规划建设中的杭福深城际铁路设站坪山（深圳东站），深圳地铁12号线、14号线、深圳东部过境通道、南坪快速干线相继连接坪山。随着轨道交通和高速路网的大规模建设，坪山区将与市区乃至香港形成便利快捷的“半小时生活圈”。
教育资源
截至2018年末，坪山区拥有各级各类区属学校103所。其中，幼儿园69所，小学17所，初中3所，九年一贯制12所，十二年一贯制学校1所，高中学校1所。在校学生数71350人。其中，在园儿童数18977人，小学在校学生数37508人，；初中在校学生数10940人，高中在校学生数3925人。全区专任教师数（公办和民办）4863人。该区著名中学有：坪山新区实验学校、深圳市坪山新区中山中学和深圳市坪山新区坪山外国语学校等。
著名景点
坪山区旅游资源丰富，马峦山瀑布是深圳市最大的天然瀑布群，金龟露营小镇是深圳旅游热点。人文景观有以“大万世居”、“龙田世居”为代表的客家文化遗产，本土文化深圳麒麟舞、腰鼓舞分别被列入省、市级非物质文化遗产保护项目，还有以曾生故居、东江纵队纪念馆为代表的红色文化旅游基地。
Pingshan District is located in the northeast of Shenzhen City, near Daya Bay in Huizhou City in the east, Dapeng Peninsula in the south, Yantian Port in the west, and Longgang District Central City in the north. The total area is 168 sq. km. Pingshan was originally under the jurisdiction of Longgang District. On 12 September 2016, the State Council approved the establishment of Pingshan District. On 7 January 2017, Pingshan District held an unveiling ceremony. The district is the main settlement for Hakka people in Shenzhen. It has a subtropical maritime climate. The natural terrain is mainly formed by hills and basins. Pingshan River, one of the five major rivers in Shenzhen, runs through the whole area. The Maluan Mountain Waterfall in the area is the largest natural waterfall group in Shenzhen. Native culture Pingshan Kirin Dance, and waist-drum dance are included in the provincial and municipal intangible cultural heritage protection projects, respectively.
In 2018, Pingshan District covered six roads and an industrial area, with a total resident population of 446,300, achieving a GDP of 70.166 billion yuan and a per capita GDP of 160,500 yuan. At the average exchange rate of the year, this translated into a per capita GDP of approximately USD24, 255.
Transportation Facilities
As of 2015, Pingshan District has the first-grade highways under the jurisdiction of Shenshan Highway, Hengping Highway, and Pingxi Highway, with a total of 516 traffic roads and a mileage of 430 km. The Shenshan Expressway passes by the district. The Hangzhou-Fuzhou-Shenzhen railway under construction will have a station in Pingshan (Shenzhen East Station) connecting Shenzhen Metro Lines 12 and 14, Shenzhen Eastern Transit Corridor, and Nanping Express Route. With the large-scale construction of rail transit and highway networks, Pingshan District will form a convenient and efficient "half-hour living circle" with the urban area and even Hong Kong.
Educational Resources
As of the end of 2018, Pingshan District had 103 schools of various types. Among them were 69 kindergartens, 17 primary schools, 3 junior high schools, 12 nine-year system schools, one 12-year system school, and one high school. The total number of students at school was 71,350, including 18,977 children, 37,508 primary school students, 10,940 junior high school students, and 3,925 high school students. There were 4,863 full-time teachers (public and private) in the district. Famous high schools in the area include Pingshan New District Experimental School, Shenzhen Pingshan New District Zhongshan Middle School, and Shenzhen Pingshan New District Pingshan Foreign Language School.
Tourist Attractions
Pingshan District is rich in tourism resources. Maluan Mountain Waterfall is the largest natural waterfall group in Shenzhen. The Golden Turtle Camping Town is a tourist hot spot in Shenzhen. The human landscape includes Hakka cultural heritage represented by "Dawanshiju" and "Longtianshiju". The local culture Shenzhen Kirin Dance and Waist Drum Dance are included in the provincial and municipal intangible cultural heritage protection projects. Besides, it is a red culture tourism base represented by the Former Residence of Zeng Sheng and Dongjiang Column Memorial Hall.
